Performing "The Wall," Invent Animate was a fulfillment of a life-long dream to see. The concert was absolutely spectacular and very professional. Somewhat disappointed, I left the show. Little connection between the artists on the stage and the audience was felt, as "Good to see you Boston!" felt as impersonal as "Hello Earthlings!" During the 30 years that had passed between the material's release and its current performance, I had hoped that at least some of the numbers would receive an update. To be fair, a couple of songs had nice extended segments, be it in the music or the lyrics - after all, "The Wall" is a commentary on modern life (or the life in the 80's). Perhaps I am looking at it the wrong way, and "The Wall" should be treated the same way we look at Dave Brubeck's pieces or texts of classic authors. These are cannons that should not be messed with. But if so, why does Roger insert images of Barack Obama and Guantanamo into his show?
